What's included
Morning
A three hour defensive driving course to teach drivers how to understand skids and control cars in adverse weather - great fun as well as equipping drivers with basic skills.
The skid pan is a large concrete area treated with a non-toxic chemical and water to simulate slippery road conditions.
Drivers use both a Rover and BMW under professional instruction to experience different skids and learn the techniques required for controlling them. Cadence braking exercise and ABS discussion teach how to stop on icy roads.
Course finishes with a time-trial to enable you to put into practice your newly acquired skills
Lunch is not included but there is catering on site offering snacks. crisps, bacon rolls and drinks. If you would prefer to bring a packed lunch, then please do.
Afternoon
Race our 200cc Kartpro Stratos Karts on a 350m purpose-built outdoor track, surfaced in the same "SMA" grippy tarmac used on formula 1 circuits! Outdoor racing is real motor-racing: Dry track, damp track, wet track... you have to adjust your driving styles to suit the conditions. All part of the racing challenge!
The Grand Prix consists:
SAFETY BRIEFING
PRACTICE [timed]
4 QUALIFYING HEATS [approx 5 laps per heat]
SEMI-FINAL FOR EVERY DRIVER [approx 5 laps]
The laps may be reduced if weather is too wet, or during Winter if light conditions are reduced.
The Winner of each semi-final qualifies for the GRAND FINAL and races off for the top three trophy positions.
