Have a go at Carriage Driving. Fantastic experience, fun to learn. No experience of horses necessary. Practise in a field, drive in and out of cones. Progress to driving on the 2000 year old Roman Fosse Way track. Create a lifetime memory.

What's included

Full day Carriage Driving lesson Itinerary:

Introduction to the horses Health and Safety Rein handling practice using the traditional English Coaching method How to handle the driving horse when stationary and when moving Putting on the harness Putting the horse to the carriage In the field, practice changing paces between walking and trotting, going in a straight line, turning corners and stopping. Short drive along the off-road track, the Fosse Way, built by the Romans nearly 2 thousand years ago Take the carriage away from the horse Take the harness off Care for the horse Break for lunch - bring a picnic or go to the local pub Lunch not included. Afternoon: usually drive a different horse to widen your experience Put the harness on, learn how to fit it to a different size horse and attach the carriage. Drive along tracks and country roads for a long drive to consolidate your learning. Learn road sense from a carriage driver's perspective Return to the farm, take and carriage away and harness of in the correct order. Feed and care for your horse Review the training. Voucher

Each voucher entitles 2 persons to participate in this experience. The voucher is transferable, which means that anyone can use it. The voucher remains valid for bookings for 9 months from the date of purchase. Please contact the operator using the details printed on your voucher to arrange a date for your event.




Special Conditions

Must be reasonably agile to climb on and off the carriage. Minimum age 16 years. Maximum weight 16 stones. Subject to weather conditions and health of the horses.




Booking your event

We recommend that you purchase your voucher and make a booking for your event at least one month prior to your chosen date. This is particularly important for weekend events.
